This is a song about the fact that terrible consequences can arise from a decision made in a second. Many of the individuals we see in the news who are demonized and depicted as heartless criminals are people who made a stupid decision in a moment of weakness, anger or difficult circumstances.

These people don't live their lives as "criminals". They are human beings that made mistakes and sometimes those mistakes can be catastrophic. That one second can change their lives and the lives of everyone affected forever.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I asked what have I done
It came down to that one
When I lost all of control
And gave away my soul

I tempted this with chance
As with fate I thought I'd dance
That slow revolving door
Stops here for me. No more.

[Pre-Chorus]
Give in to the shame
Life is what it became
Defined by demise
I said my goodbyes

[Chorus]
In one second, one rash grave decision
It all comes down crashing
Life undone, unravels without precision
Guilt is crushing

[Verse 2]
I wish I had sense to see
And those lights kept burning
But their souls are haunting me
And their loved ones yearning

In a flash I made a choice
I ignored the reasoned voice
Though my soles still hit the ground
Holes I've dug, dirt in mounds

[Pre-Chorus]
Give in to the shame
Life is what it became
Defined by demise
I said my goodbyes

[Chorus]
In one second, one rash grave decision
It all comes down crashing
Life undone, unravels without precision
Guilt is crushing
In one second, one rash grave decision
It all comes down crashing
Life undone, unravels without precision
Guilt is crushing

[Instrumental Bridge]

[Chorus]
In one second, one rash grave decision
It all comes down crashing
Life undone, unravels without precision
Guilt is crushing
In one second, one rash grave decision
It all comes down crashing
Life undone, unravels without precision
Life undone, unravels without precision
Life undone, unravels without precision
Guilt is crushing
